Lakes Jul 18

Outside the bunkhouse

Our July meet in the Lakes happened to take place on the only wet weekend of the summer. Although this meant we didn’t go scrambling as originally planned, it was a welcome respite from the heat.

On the Saturday we had a lovely walk from our bunkhouse at Scales over to Mungrisdale – a very quiet corner of the Lake District. It only rained for about 10% of the time, which was much better than forecast. We later heard from others in the bunkhouse, however, that it had been much wetter in the rest of the Lakes.

On the Sunday it really was wet so we had to satisfy ourselves with a low level walk along Derwentwater.

Despite the disappointing weather and the lack of scrambling, we all enjoyed the weekend and are now looking forward to going back to the Lakes for Bremex’s October meet.
