Improve your mountaineering skills
Bremex aims to provide an inspirational and welcoming setting for its members to practise, improve and share the skills involved in hillwalking, mountaineering and climbing.
The club has no formal base. Activities are undertaken on a peer-to-peer basis so that members can learn from each other. We believe that everyone has something to offer, even if they are relatively inexperienced.
Weekend meets take place each month in mountain and upland areas across Great Britain, including the Peak District, North Wales, Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and Scotland. The club provides a structure, which includes an organiser, for each weekend meet. Activities typically include incident management, security on steep ground, scrambling, rope work, rock climbing and poor visibility navigation.
The club comprises all levels of experience. Many members are practising for, or have obtained, national governing body awards including summer and winter Mountain Leader. We also have members with their Mountain Instructor Certificate and International Mountain Leader awards. However, you don’t have to be involved in any formal training scheme to join Bremex. The club is open to any one with an interest in improving their hillwalking, mountaineering or climbing skills, whatever their existing level of experience.
